Current Annual Scholarships:
Kekaulike High School Foundation Scholarship
2023 marked the inaugural scholarships from the Kekaulike High School Foundation. The Foundation was established in 2020 to support the keiki and teachers in all Kekaulike Complex schools. The total number of scholarships and amounts will be determined by funds raised and donations received by the KHSF Scholarship Committee.
Susan Scofield Scholarship
2022 marked the inaugural year of the $1000 Susan Scofield Scholarship. Susan Scofield was the first principal of the "new" Upcountry school that opened in September 1995 and was the only principal for the school's first 21 years. Even before any buildings on the campus were ever completed, she worked closely with the first incoming class of 8th graders at Kalama Intermediate school, their parents, and the Upcountry community to establish a clear vision and mission that created Na Ali'i pride, traditions, and academic achievements. Under her leadership, King Kekaulike High School was recognized as one of the best high schools in the state by US News and World Report (2013), as well as one of the nation's most challenging schools by The Washington Post (2012, 2013).
Sue and Aki Nakashima Memorial Scholarships
2022 marked the inaugural $2000 perpetual donation for the Sue and Aki Nakashima Memorial Scholarships. Sue and Aki Nakashima of Pukalani Superette both strongly believed that learning was the way to a better life. In honor of their lifetime of sacrifice and hard work, this scholarship was created to help KKHS students who are pursuing a higher education. Scholarships will be awarded in various amounts each year as determined by the KHSF Scholarship Committee.
Debbie Hisashima Memorial Scholarship
In 2023, the Hisashima Family, Pukalani Elementary, & other generous donors established a scholarship fund in memory of Debbie Hisashima, Pukalani Elementary Academic Coach and STEMworks Afterschool Coordinator to support seniors pursuing studies in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field. Scholarships will be awarded in amounts as determined by donations received by the KHSF Scholarship Committee.
Kalei's Lunchbox Scholarship
In 2026, Chef Aaron Heath, previously of Cafe 808 in Kula, and his wife, Fran Heath, established the Kaleiʻs Lunchbox Scholarship. As a locally owned Maui business, Kaleiʻs Lunchbox is deeply rooted in the community and committed to giving back by investing in the education and future success of local students. Their connection to King Kekaulike High School is especially meaningful, as their children are proud Nā Aliʻi alumni. Through this scholarship, they are continuing their commitment to supporting the next generation of Maui students and helping them pursue their educational goals.
