Scholarships

The Foundation is pleased to offer scholarships to graduating seniors of the Class of 2022.

Congratulations to the 2022 recipients

The Kekaulike High School Foundation has awarded five scholarships in its inaugural scholarship program season to students planning to continue their post-secondary education at two- or four-year institutions or vocational-technical schools. Seniors were selected based on their academic achievement, community service, character, and financial need and scholarships were made possible by the generous support of community philanthropists and fundraising efforts of the Foundation.

Kekaulike High School Foundation Scholarships are made possible by the generous support of community philanthropists and fundraising efforts of the Foundation. Scholarships are non-transferrable and need not be repaid. These are one-year grants sent directly to the post-secondary institution in two-installments.

Selection Process: The Foundation has its own selection committee and through a rigorous review process, the committee determines the recipients.

Susan Scofield Scholarship
2022 marks the inaugural year of the $1000 Susan Scofield Scholarship. Susan Scofield was the first principal of the "new" Upcountry school that opened in September 1995 and was the only principal for the school's first 21 years.  Even before any buildings on the campus were ever completed, she worked closely with the first incoming class of 8th graders at Kalama Intermediate school, their parents, and the Upcountry community to establish a clear vision and mission that created Na Ali'i pride, traditions, and academic achievements. Under her leadership, King Kekaulike High School was recognized as one of the best high schools in the state by US News and World Report (2013), as well as one of the nation's most challenging schools by The Washington Post (2012, 2013).

Sue and Aki Nakashima Memorial Scholarships
2022 marks the inaugural $2000 perpetual donation for the Sue and Aki Nakashima Memorial Scholarships.  Sue and Aki Nakashima, founders of Pukalani Superette, both strongly believed that learning was the way to a better life. In honor of their lifetime of sacrifice and hard work, this scholarship was created to help KKHS students who are pursuing a higher education. Scholarships will be awarded in various amounts each year as determined by the KHSF Scholarship Committee.

*Kukui Malamalama Scholarships
2022 marks the inaugural year of the Kukui Malamalama Scholarships for KKHS students which are funded by local residents who are interested in seeing more of our students continue their education after high school. Two scholarships will be awarded in the amount of at least $1500 as determined by the total donations received and by the KHSF Scholarship Committee.
